The well man came today. It was the UV light that went out, but it also needs some kind of control panel replaced. He is also testing our water as he thinks the ph may be off & that's why we can't drink the water. He will be back in a couple of days, but in the mean time, he by-passed the UV light so that we have water coming into the house. Once the UV light is up & running, we have to put a gallon of bleach into the cistern to kill any bacteria that would have gotten in & r lying -in- wait in the pipes.
I recently read a helpful tip that if you put yeast down the toilet once a month, you don't have to have the septic system pumped for a very long time. The person who gave this tip hasn't had hers pumped for 20 years. So after I let the bleach do it's thing, I'm going to start using yeast. They say it can be any kind of yeast, so if I can get bread yeast cheaper the the septic yeast, I'll buy that. But the place I get my yeast from didn't have any when I went there last week. I hope they still carry it.
When I get done with my class in 3 weeks, I think I'll start making sour dough bread. It's cheaper as I won't need yeast.
Finally have running water
